Alkimos Shorehaven Project

The Alkimos Shorehaven Stages in Perth’s Northern Suburbs was a project undertaken by RJ Vincent and Co. for Peet Alkimos Pty Ltd. The stage comprised of approx. 3,000 lots and 30,000 square metres of road works over an area with large limestone deposits. Cat Accugrade machine control systems supplied by SitechWA were utilized on the project.
A Cat 12M Grader with an Accugrade GPS Antenna was used in fine grading and trimming of the roads and kerb lines.
The advantages of the Cat AccuGrade system for the operator; did not have to wait for pegs to be placed by surveyors, any utilities or manholes that may have been installed and may have been covered over were easily spotted on the graders in Cab screen. The operator, although having only 3years experience in final trim grading, was greatly helped by the Accugrade system. It allowed for ease of job, getting it correct the first time.
The AccuGrade system allowed for designs to be easily and quickly downloaded to the earthmoving equipment. Jobs can commence straight away. The road surface and kerb lines were easily and efficiently fine graded, without the use of survey pegs.   Some of the other features were as-cons and helping anyone who needed a height or position checked without the need for a surveyor.
The project was completed well within the expected schedule. Using Trimble GPS machine control systems was a big part of the success of the completed Alkimos Shorehaven project. SitechWA had been involved in the installation of the system into the machines, software into the site office, infrastructure setup and ongoing support.
