MJ Civil Contracting

Founded by Mitch Toms in 2019, MJ Civil Contracting has taken delivery of the company’s first machine control system. Mitch opted to fit his Caterpillar grader blade attachment with a Trimble Earthworks Universal Total Station (UTS) system.

Most of MJ Civil Contracting’s projects demand the highest accuracy achievable due to the tight tolerances required – projects including commercial building site preparation, building pads, drainage, and concrete pad preparation. That’s where the UTS system comes in delivering the highest accuracy available.

When asked, Mitch noted he is already seeing big improvements in productivity as waiting time for survey support is reduced, no rework is required if survey pegs get destroyed, and improving operator efficiency as they have complete access to the designs.

He went on to say that the work his company is delivering to their customers is far more accurate and jobs are finished with ease compared to traditional methods.

I was curious to find out what factors were important in enabling Mitch to choose Trimble for his first foray with machine control. “Reputation and support” were two of Mitch’s primary factors when making his decision.

From the team at SITECH WA, we want to thank Mitch for entrusting us with his machine control requirements and wish MJ Civil Contracting all the best for the future.
