Narrogin Plant Hire

Our Support Technician, Allan, recently conducted a training session for John and Jayden, a father-and-son team from Narrogin Plant Hire.

The session focused on their brand-new CAT 150 Grader, equipped with the CAT Grade 2D Dual Laser System, as supplied and installed by SITECH WA. This 2D laser system is fully integrated with the grader’s CAT Grade Mastless GPS system, ensuring seamless operation.

The duo learned how to operate the Trimble Spectra GL422 Dual-Slope Laser, CAT Grade Dual-Mast 2D LR410 laser receivers on adjustable masts, and the user-friendly Trimble TD540 touchscreen interface in the cab with both manual and auto modes.

Key benefits of the technology:

•  CAT Grade Dual-Mast 2D machine guidance is a user-friendly but powerful technology to cost-effectively complete civils for projects such as sports fields, tennis courts, or road embankments on grade, reducing rework.
•  The off-machine automatic self-leveling GL422 laser is mounted on an elevating tripod with a grade range of -10% to + 15% on two axes.
•  This 600RPM grade laser performs about 10 laser strikes per second when paired with the two on-machine LR410 laser receivers.
•  Based off the laser strikes, the CAT Grade 2D Laser system rapidly updates the grader operator on the grader blade’s true vertical position compared to grade.
•  Using a dual grade laser for machine guidance simplifies level, grade and vertical alignment setups.

Throughout the session, Jayden quickly mastered key tasks such as benching, using offsets, relying on the touchscreen for planning required cut/fill across the pad, and engaging automatics blade control for a perfect final grade while working on a shed pad project.

As pictured, Jayden was thrilled with the 2D Laser System and shared that it saved him hours on this shed pad job!
