The Trimble CCS900 Compaction Control System eliminates much of that guess work from asphalt paving operations and helps achieve more consistent compaction to target design density over the entire material layer. The operator will also be able to roll a more efficient pattern and can thus increase productivity and save fuel.

CCS900 can provide:

  • a pass count map to avoid over/undercompaction,
  • real-time temperature mapping for the operator to see the optimal area for compaction,
  • documentation providing a log of the compactor activities with pass count and temperature information, and
  • verifiable as-built information transferred via two-way data sync for documentation and timely payment.
  • Trimble has developed a competitively priced base system that maps only pass counts for asphalt contractors who wish to equip their compactors at a cost-conscious price. As an entry system, pass count mapping represents a large untapped opportunity for contractors to work more efficiently and create a better surface.

Why Trimble CCS900?

Why it is important to you?

Complete paving solutions from Trimble

Paving contractors can leverage the same 3D designs and on-machine components for all phases of road re-surfacing from milling, asphalt paving and compaction.

Rugged and reliable

System components are designed for use in the harsh construction site environment for increased reliability and maximum uptime.

Flexibility to expand

Entry level compaction pass counts As your needs change you can invest in additional sensors for increased system capabilities.

Color graphical display

A full-color graphical display with large icons and menu options provides easy viewing and guidance to grade.

The asphalt compactor is the last machine to pass over a paving project, and mistakes can be very costly to fix. However, until now asphalt compaction operations involved considerable human interaction to determine the right timing and number of pass counts to achieve ideal mat density.

Compacting asphalt that is too hot causes damage to the surface and can cause bow waves and material The Trimble CCS900 Compaction Control System is available in three cab-mounted configurations for asphalt compactors:

  • single GNSS (MS992 or MS972 Smart GNSS Antenna),
  • dual GNSS (MS992 or MS972 Smart GNSS Antenna), or
  • total station based with the MT900 Machine Target.

Pass Counts Only Configuration

Trimble has developed a competitively priced base system that maps only pass counts for asphalt contractors who wish to equip their compactors at a cost-conscious price. As an entry system, pass count mapping represents a large untapped opportunity for contractors to work more efficiently and create a better surface displacement. Compacting asphalt that is too cold has little densifying effect and can cause cracking in the mat.
